Verum Terra Achieves Zero Lost-Time Incident Record for 2024

Safety Excellence in Mining Operations

Verum Terra Geoscience Inc. has achieved a remarkable safety milestone — a full calendar year of operations without a single lost-time incident (LTI). This achievement reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards in all aspects of its mining and exploration activities in Eastern Samar.

The zero-LTI record covers all operational areas, including exploration drilling, geological fieldwork, laboratory sampling, equipment maintenance, and administrative functions. Over 150,000 man-hours were recorded during this period across all project sites.

Comprehensive Safety Program

The achievement is attributed to the company’s robust safety management system, which includes:

  • Daily toolbox meetings before the start of every shift
  • Weekly safety inspections conducted by trained safety officers
  • Monthly safety drills covering fire, earthquake, and chemical spill scenarios
  • Mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance across all operational zones
  • A behavior-based safety observation program that encourages proactive hazard identification
  • Regular safety training and certification programs for all employees and contractors

Employee Recognition

To celebrate this milestone, the company organized a Safety Recognition Day at the main project site. Awards were given to teams and individuals who demonstrated outstanding safety leadership throughout the year. Each employee received a commemorative safety pin and certificate acknowledging their contribution to the zero-LTI achievement.

The Safety Officer remarked: “Safety is not just a policy here — it is a core value that every team member lives by. This milestone belongs to every single person in our organization, from our geologists in the field to our administrative staff in the office.”

Continuous Improvement

While celebrating the achievement, the company emphasized that safety is an ongoing journey. Plans for the coming year include the implementation of a digital safety reporting platform, enhanced emergency response training, and the expansion of the safety mentor program to include community partners and contractors.
