Verum Terra Geoscience Inc., in partnership with the Municipal Health Office of Guiuan and volunteer medical professionals, conducted a two-day Medical and Dental Mission that provided free healthcare services to over 500 residents from remote barangays in the municipality. The mission was part of the company’s ongoing commitment to improving health and well-being in its host communities.
The medical mission set up stations at the Guiuan Municipal Gymnasium, offering a comprehensive range of healthcare services:
Many of the beneficiaries came from geographically isolated barangays where access to healthcare facilities is limited. Residents often have to travel several hours by boat or on foot to reach the nearest hospital or clinic, making regular medical check-ups a significant logistical and financial burden.
The Municipal Health Officer expressed gratitude for the initiative: “Medical missions like this are invaluable for our remote communities. Many of the patients we saw today had not visited a doctor in years due to the difficulty and cost of travel. Partnerships with companies like Verum Terra make a tangible difference in the health outcomes of our residents.”
Verum Terra has committed to conducting quarterly medical missions throughout 2024, with plans to expand the range of services to include laboratory diagnostics, vaccination drives, and mental health counseling. The company is also exploring the possibility of establishing a permanent community health clinic in one of its host barangays.
